Lady Tigers Take Over #1 Spot

The LaSalle Lady Tigers softball team couldn’t have asked for a better week. Three games. Three wins. All on the road. And each one showed a different layer of what makes this team the current #1 squad in Louisiana.

They opened the week with a thriller on Tuesday, March 17, edging out St. Mary’s 7–6 in a back‑and‑forth battle that demanded every ounce of grit the Lady Tigers had. It was the kind of game that tests a team’s composure, and LaSalle answered every punch with one of their own. Winning this one in Natchitoches is always a great feeling, especially to close out the district rivalry finale.

From there, they stepped up in classification and stepped up in performance. Facing a 3A squad in Jewel Sumner on Friday, March 20, the Lady Tigers delivered a statement win, 2–0, behind airtight defense and clutch pitching. Beating a larger school on their home field only reinforced what the rankings already say: LaSalle can compete with anyone. They closed the week with a commanding 15–0 victory over Harrisonburg on Saturday, March 21, a game that showcased their depth, discipline, and ability to take control early and never let go.

Now, the road is getting even tougher and even more exciting. On Tuesday, March 24, LaSalle faced what may be the defining matchup of their regular season: a rematch of last year’s State Championship Game against #2 Logansport.

With the top two teams in the state meeting again, the stakes couldn’t be higher. The Lady Tigers are confident and making strides every week, but Logansport has had this date circled since the schedule was released. It’s the kind of game that can shape momentum, rankings, and postseason expectations. The community should show up loud and proud to this game!

Tomorrow night, Thursday, March 26, the Lady Tigers return home to take on 3A Vidalia, another program known for size, speed, and physical play. After a week of road dominance, LaSalle will finally get the chance to defend their home field against a larger‑classification opponent.

On Friday, they will welcome 5A Ruston to Olla for another proving matchup and then next Monday they will host Georgetown and on Tuesday, they will host Montgomery.

With confidence soaring and the toughest stretch of the season approaching, the Lady Tigers have positioned themselves exactly where they want to be: battle‑tested, and ready for the spotlight. If this past week proved anything, it’s that LaSalle isn’t just the #1 team in the state on paper, they’re playing like it on the field.

Please keep showing up and supporting these girls as they continue the quest for Sulphur and to go back-to-back. The regular season is winding down and the playoffs will begin in a few weeks. Now is the time to make every game as the ladies have their eyes set on Sulphur and state championship number 5!

Go Lady Tigers!
