The Legend of the Beloved Dogwood Tree
A drive through the rural countryside of Louisiana’s Lasalle Parish in early spring and around the Easter holiday reveals many beautiful changes in nature, and one of the loveliest is the appearance of the soft, white petaled flowers of the native Dogwood Tree. The trees can be seen in the timber forest, distinguished by displays of floral beauty. The flowers consist of four pure white petals, each indented and tipped in crimson red, convening in the middle of individual blooms in a golden thornlike cluster.
