Top 10 Tigers keep momentum

The LaSalle Tigers baseball team delivered a week packed with momentum swings, statement wins, and more character defining moments as they continued to carve out their identity this season.

They opened the week in dominant fashion on Monday, March 30, overpowering Castor in a 13–1 rout that showcased their offensive depth and ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities.

The Tigers controlled the game from the first pitch, piling on runs early and never giving Castor a chance to recover. LaSalle totaled 12 hits in the game. Street led the way with two runs batted in and went 1-for-2 on the day. Dulaney, Lasiter, and Boyd each collected two hits apiece. Mason Lee stole two bases, two of the total 9 stolen bases for the game by the Tigers. And on top of that, the Tigers turned two double plays on the days.

But the real highlight came Tuesday, March 31, when LaSalle secured a crucial district victory over longtime rival Montgomery, 5–2. In a matchup loaded with emotion and postseason implications, the Tigers stayed composed, executed in key moments, and walked away with one of their most meaningful wins of the season.

The pitching staff held Montgomery in check, while timely hitting sealed the deal. Montgomery gained momentum in the top of the 4th with a two-run inning, but the Tigers fought back the next inning made it 2-2 in the bottom of the 5th.

The crucial moment of the game, however, was the bottom of the 6th as the Tigers rattled off 3 runs and held Montgomery to a goose egg on the scoreboard in their final 3 outs in the top of the 7th to cap off a thrilling win.

Lasiter, Stowe, Burnham, Boyd, Street, and Kirland each recorded a hit on the day, but defensively Lasiter shined as he produced on the bump for all 7 innings and threw for 74 strikes in 109 pitches as he recorded 8 strikeouts on the day.

Thursday, April 2, brought a different kind of challenge as LaSalle stepped up in classification to face a solid 3A team in Bunkie. Despite competing hard, the Tigers fell 12–1 to the larger opponent. But the game offered valuable experience as the Tigers continue to sharpen their skills and will face larger opponents in the final few games of their season as Coach Josh Boyett works to prepare his boys ready for the post season.

They returned home Monday, April 6, to host Georgetown in what should be well attended local matchup. On Thursday, April 9, they face Northwood-Shreve, a 4A Division I team known for its athleticism and aggressive play.

The Tigers will then wrap up the week on Friday, April 10, with a showdown against Buckeye, a matchup that could carry weight as the postseason picture begins to take shape, as Buckeye is #8 in Division II Select.

If they can build on the grit they showed against Montgomery and the firepower they unleashed against Castor, LaSalle will be poised for a strong push through April.
