The LaSalle Parish Library hosted two exciting programs as part of its Summer Reading on July 24, as both the Jena and Olla branches welcomed children for a day of education, entertainment, and fun.
The Jena branch welcomed Mrs. Debra Jo back to their library for a magical and memorable experience. A local favorite and regular performer at the LaSalle Parishes Library’s Summer Reading Program, Mrs. Debra Jo entertained children with magic, music, comedy, and educational games and activities.
She even gave the children a chance to pet a bunny that magically appeared during one of her tricks. Laughter and excitement filled the library as children enjoyed her interactive performance.
On the other side of the parish, at the Olla branch, children learned the importance of water safety during an informative and fun-filled program.
The program was presented by the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers, whose representatives discussed essential water safety tips and how to stay safe while enjoying lakes, rivers, and other waterways. After the presentation, library staff led the children in a fun water-themed craft activity.
Next week’s program will feature the Dino Experience, the final Summer Reading Program event of July and the summer season. The program will begin at 10 a.m. at the Jena branch and 2 p.m. at the Olla branch.
