BACK TO SCHOOL

Final preparations were made last week across the area for the start of the 2026-2027 school year with various meetings for school employees.

Shown above, LaSalle School Superintendent Jon Garrett met with parish principals, assistant principals and other school administrative officials at the LaSalle Parish Library July 29. All employees held similar meetings throughout the week.

In conjunction with the start of school, various churches, businesses and community organizations have conducted Back to School supply giveaways for students, such as WoodmenLife’s annual Back to School Supply Drive-Thru where 300 bags were given away. The event was held Thursday, July 30, at their building in Jena. Shown in the middle photo is WoodmenLife Field Representative Kylie Jo Myers distributing bags and below are many of the volunteers who helped with distribution.

Students at Temple Christian Academy began their school year Tuesday, August 4 and students in the LaSalle Parish School System began today, August 5. Catahoula Parish students will start school Tuesday, August 11.
