QUALIFYING/SCHOOL STARTS

Last week was busy in LaSalle Parish as candidates for the Nov. 3 election qualified at the courthouse and students started the 2026-2027 school year. Shown above, 28th Judicial District Court Judge J. Christopher Peters shares a lighthearted moment with LaSalle Clerk of Court Steve Andrews while qualifying early Wednesday morning. Peters is the second longest serving Judge for LaSalle Parish, second only to LaSalle’s very first elected judge, F.E. Jones. Peters was first elected in 2008 and has gone unopposed since – including this year.

Students at Olla-Standard Elementary School were excited about the start of school last Wednesday, as they departed cars and buses to start their day.
