The very first graduating class of LaSalle High School, the Class of 1951, was honored last week during the LHS Homecoming events. Although 25 are still living, only two were able to attend Homecoming, C.W. and Mariann Wilson Branton, shown above center. Dr. Sheila King, who is the daughter of the Brantonâs, delivered the 1951 speech and Mrs. Carrice Duke sat with the class representing her husband, the late Ray Duke, who was a member of the 1951 Class. Remembering LHS Class of 1951
(EDITOR’S NOTE: The following speech was given by Dr. Sheila King during LaSalle High’s Homecoming Pep Rally held last Friday, in recognition of the Class of 1951 – the first graduating class of the newly consolidated LHS. Dr. King’s parents, C.W. and Mariann Wilson Branton, were members of the class and were present for the festivities last week.)
