Jena Mayor LaDawn Edwards speaks to attendees

Jena Mayor LaDawn Edwards speaks to attendees about the endless possibilities for those in our area to utilize the Strand Theater during its recent premiere opening event and fundraiser in downtown Jena. The town-owned historic theater, which was established in 1937, was recently restored and will be used for performances, events and programs as well as rented out as an event space for weddings, receptions, rehearsals, family reunions, homecoming events and more. At the premiere opening event, refreshments were served and Butch King of Ferriday provided music. Strand T-shirts and hoodies were sold and a silent auction was held with proceeds going to purchase curtains for the stage. The theater is located at 3228 North First Street. For more information and/or to rent the space, contact Jena Town Hall at 318-992-2148 or Strand Coordinator Sheila Mason at 318-403-0181.
