Traffic violations on two occasions during the past week led to the arrest of two individuals on various illegal narcotic charges, according to LaSalle Parish Sheriff Scott Franklin. In the early morning hours of Sunday, October 24, a LPSO deputy stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation on LA Hwy 8 near Stevenson Rd.
Traffic violations on two occasions during the past week led to the arrest of two individuals on various illegal narcotic charges, according to LaSalle Parish Sheriff Scott Franklin.
In the early morning hours of Sunday, October 24, a LPSO deputy stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation on LA Hwy 8 near Stevenson Rd.
The deputy spoke to the driver identified as James Little, 41, of Jonesville. Due to Little appearing nervous and sweating profusely a K-9 deputy was requested to come to the stop. K-9 “Max” was used for a search of the vehicle, and yielded a positive alert.
A search of the vehicle revealed suspected methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and a large amount of marijuana.
Little was arrested and transported to the LaSalle Parish Jail where he was booked on charges of possession of CDS II methamphetamine, possession of CDS I marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia, and no tail lamp.
On the night of Tuesday, October 26, a LPSO K-9 deputy stopped a vehicle on Hwy 84 in Jena due to an equipment violation.
The deputy spoke to the driver identified as Summer McGuffee, 43, of Trout. After speaking with McGuffee and observing her actions, the deputy decided to utilize his K-9 partner “Drako” for a search of the vehicle.
During the search K-9 “Drako” gave a positive alert. Deputies began searching the interior of the vehicle locating methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
McGuffee was arrested and transported to the LPSO Jail and booked on charges of possession of CDS I marijuana, possession of CDS II methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and proper equipment required on vehicle.
