Former Centennial Cultural

Former Centennial Cultural Center (CCC) President Fern McKeithen holds an Asphidity bag for Good Pine Middle School third graders to smell during their visit last week to the Centennial Cultural Center (CCC) in Olla. The pouch contained pungent-smelling herbs that were an old-time remedy of preventative medicine to ward off colds and other illnesses if they were worn around the neck. Mawmaw Nelly explained to the students that the herbs may or may not have worked, however the smell kept other children away from them, so germs were not spread which did help to keep them well.
