Ernest “Ernie” Lee Coates, 64, of Jena, passed from this life on Tuesday, June 7, 2022 at his residence.
He was born Friday, February 28, 1958 to his parents, Charlie Jack Coates and Carrie Octavia Wilson.
Ernie was a Jack-of-All-Trades.
A memorial service was held at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 10, at Whitehall United Pentecostal Church in Jena under the direction of Magnolia Funeral Home of Alexandria with Bro. Joey Paul, officiating.
He was preceded in death by his parents. Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Carolyn Coates; five sons, Paul Kimball and Tamika, Joe Kimball and Megan, James Kimball, Zack Kimball and Benny Wayne Coates; two daughters, Augustus Coates and Keshia Smith; two brothers, Benny Frank Coates and Charlie Coates; sister, Dorothy (Dot) Black and husband Rocky as well as many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews whom he loved very much.
