By Victor Skinner (The Center Square) — Many bills approved during the 2022 legislative session went into effect last week on Monday, including new marijuana-related laws,and increased penalties for carjacking and other crimes. Beginning August 1, Act 473 eliminates the odor of marijuana as probable cause for law enforcement to search a person’s home without a warrant, while Act 478 outlaws smoking or vaping the drug in a motor vehicle on state roadways.
