After much procrastination, the wife and I decided to visit our son in Austin, Texas. Looking at the map it did not seem to be a long haul but there was that stressful Harris County part. In order to avoid Houston we took the Leesville route opting to take Hwy 59 south to North Houston. At the last moment we decided to divert to the brand new Texas Hwy 99 toll road. To access this road you pass underneath digital cameras that snap your picture complete with your license plate. I’m told I will receive a bill through the mail in two or three weeks. Taking Hwy 99 will completely avoid Houston plus it is thirty minutes quicker and much less stressful. How much is that worth? I will know in two or three weeks.
