There were seven kids in our family. Most of them practiced some kind of “creative art” as their profession. One of my brothers could play the piano, another is a painter and does portraits, I write and do photography. My son makes movies for Netflix. He does illustrations, animation, and voices. It seems to be in our blood.
I appreciate most modern art if the subject of the art form is clearly apparent. I don’t care for art that consists of meaningless circles, squares, sweeps, and other mumbo jumbo. There are certain artists that I love and others that do not gain my acceptance.
One of my favorite artists is Andrew Wyety. During WWII he drew many of the posters about supporting the war by buying bonds. He was offered large sums of money to do illustrations for certain companies. He turned down all those offers because he wanted to do only art pieces.
One of his art pieces is called THE HUNTER (see photo). This particular piece was on the cover of the October 16, 1943, cover of THE SATURDAY EVENING POST. This piece and many others that followed gave him a place in the best artist in the Nation. His choice of subjects and colors found favor with the art community and individuals.
I think that you will agree with me when I say, “let the image speak for itself.”
