“When I say READ, you say SUCCEED!” “Read!” “Succeed!” “Read!” “Succeed!” This is how Malcolm Mitchell, children’s book author, Super Bowl Champion and Founder/CEO of Share the Magic Foundation began the “Read with Malcolm Reading Rally” last week at Jena area schools. Students from Good Pine Middle and Fellowship Elementary attended the Rally at the Good Pine campus on Monday, May 15, and students from Jena Elementary and Nebo Elementary participated in the Rally on Tuesday, May 16 at Jena Elementary School. The two events are part of a four-day literacy program series presented by Mitchell’s Share the Magic Foundation and funded by The Rapides Foundation. Jena students were among the almost 2,800 students who participated in nine Reading Rallies presented across Central Louisiana May 15-18. The Reading Rally was led by Mitchell, who considers a love of reading to be his greatest achievement. During the event, Mitchell shared with students how he hasn’t always loved reading.
