The Town of Jena was informed last week they have been awarded a $4.7-million grant from the Louisiana Water Sector Program to replace nearly all of the town’s main water lines. “I’m in my third term as Jena’s Mayor and I’ve never had anything this big happen,” Jena Mayor LaDawn Edwards said last week upon learning the town has been awarded the grant totaling $4,764,540.00. Jena Town Clerk Cory Floyd has been serving in her position for even longer and she too cannot remember the town ever receiving this large of a grant. “This is huge for the Town of Jena,” Edwards continued. “There is no way we could have ever had the money to replace these old main water lines but thanks to Senator Glen Womack, we will soon be replacing these lines that have caused us so much trouble for many years.” Womack serves on the Water Sector
