Nebo residents Darryle and Brittany Kitterlin, inset photo, were all smiles during the first day of their Hawaii vacation on the island of Maui. Just two days later, they were fleeing for their lives through the back allies of Lahaina as the city burned to the ground.

“It was definitely a vacation we will never forget…” Just two weeks ago, an emergency proclamation was issued for what would be penned the “Maui wildfires”- as massive and quickly spreading wildfires developed in several areas on the small island. Beginning late Monday night, August 7, several wildfires began making their way across Maui and the Big Island in Hawaii.
