LaSalle Falls to St. Mary’s

The LaSalle Tigers traveled to Northwestern State University in Natchitoches last Friday night to take on the St Mary’s Tigers to open the District 3-1A play.

The game was a fast-paced matchup of two good running teams with St. Mary’s coming into this contest undefeated at 4-0 and LaSalle standing at 3-2.

On paper, the two teams matched up well and looked to be a very close game. Both LaSalle and St. Mary’s had proven themselves to be able to score against any defense. However, this was not to be the case last Friday night.

St. Mary’s would score 42 unanswered points on the night as the La-Salle Tigers could not get any offense going against a very tough St. Mary’s defense.

LaSalle would be shut out for the second time in two weeks and the loss dropped the Tigers to 3-3 overall and 0-1 in district play.

LaSalle will not be able to linger long on the thought of this district opener loss, because this week will bring all the festivities of Homecoming and a district game against a 3-3 Montgomery team.

Montgomery is a young team that has been playing well as of late. The Tigers will prepare for this homecoming matchup by studying their own film. Montgomery is a mirror image of the LaSalle Tigers as a spread offense with a great running game. It is the most evenly matched up teams that the Tigers will face this season. Montgomery will come to Olla with a #11 ranking while LaSalle sits at #29. This will be a great football game and the stands will be packed with alumni in town for all the homecoming festivities.

The homecoming events will begin at LaSalle at 10 a.m. with the Homecoming program at Tiger Stadium, followed by the parade set to roll out at 2 p.m.

During halftime of the homecoming game, the Queen and her Court will be presented.

Homecoming at LHS is always an exciting week and the day will be filled with lots of great reunions from alumni. It should also be an exciting football game the Tigers of LaSalle should give those returning graduates a lot to cheer about.

If you can’t make it to the game, then please tune in to Sandlot Sports Network as Jason Peppers will bring you all the playby- play ac- tion. Hope to see you at the games.
