Roger Fritz

Roger Fritz, 78, of Jena, passed from this life on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at his home in Jena.

He was born March 11, 1945 in Delhi, LA.

A graveside service was held at 1 p.m., Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Webster Cemetery in Jena, with the Rev. Theodore Walker officiating.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Nehemiah Fritz and Louberter Jackson Fritz; four brothers, Willie Scott Jr., Edward Scott, Nehemiah Fritz Jr. and Paul Fritz; and one sister, Christine Banks.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 40 years, Sandra Simmons Fritz; sons, Jeffery Fritz of Jena and Roger Wayne Fritz, Jr. of California; daughters, Beverly Fritz and Dedrick Fritz, both of California; stepsons, Darnell Simmons of Jena, Gary Simmons of Sicily Island, George Byrd of Jena and Marcus Byrd of Jena; stepdaughter, Rochelle Simmons of Jena, Renina Simmons of Jena and Rachanasha Simmons of Jonesville; a special grandson, Malik Simmons; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, other family and friends.

Pallbearers were Jermain Gravely, Eddie Shavers, Moses Savage, and stepsons, Darnell Simmons, Gary Simmons, Marcus Byrd and George Byrd.
