Dewey Walker

Dewey Andrew Walker, 95, of Jena, made his journey home on Thursday, November 16, 2023.

He was born August 19, 1928 in the Walkerville Community to the union of his parents, Monroe and Ellen Brown Walker.

Services were held at 11 a.m., Sunday, November 19, 2023, at Shady Grove United Pentecostal Church, with the Revs. Pat Phillips, Curtis Thornton and Jackie Alexander officiating.

Interment followed in the Belah Cemetery under the direction of Kinner & Stevens Funeral Home in Jena.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Amy Lacroix Walker; four sisters, Oretha Coon, Neva Francis, Cleta Kowalski and Era Mae Walker; and five brothers, Tilford Walker, Gove Walker, Grady Walker, Shelby Walker and Linus Walker.

Those left to cherish his memory include two sisters, Norma “Sis” Deville and Jessie Alexander (Jackie) of Jena; daughter, Janet Walker Ewing of Jena; son, Chris Walker (Mandi) of Jena; four grandkids, Summer Tullier (Treg) of Prairieville, LA; Melody Ewing (Andy Chediak) of New York, NY; Abby Walker (Michael Peacock) of Palm Bay, FL and Olivia Walker of Jena, LA; two great grandsons, Brody and Eli Tullier; as well as many other beloved family and friends.

Pallbearers were Will Walker, Jimmy Boyd, Clint Walker, Mark Creed, Marcus Francis and Casen Willis.

Honorary pallbearers were Elmer Boyd, Jackie Alexander, Blondie Francis, Lester Francis, Dennis Deville, Stanley Malcomb and Sonny Davis.
