Pancakes with Santa

Amp’d Youth presents Pancakes with Santa. Also featuring Mrs. Claus and the Grinch Saturday, December 2, 2023. Fourty-five minute sessions at 8 a.m., 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. at Dream Land Venue (284 Browntown Road, Jena).

Cost is $10 per entry and you must purchase a ticket. Tickets can be purchased at the LaSalle Parish Library – Jena Branch. All proceeds will go to missionaries for vehicles, sound equipment and to build water wells.

L & A Christmas Banquet

You are invited to attend L & A’s Second Inaugural Christmas Banquet on Saturday, December 2, 2023.

The event will be held at the L & A Mays-Young Fellowship Hall at 6 p.m. Attire is formal/semi-formal.

Ovarian Cancer Awareness Meetings

Come join us as Dennis Bevers (and his wife Mary, two-time ovarian cancer survivor) share important information that women need to know about ovarian cancer.

There are two upcoming meetings: Thursday, December 7 at 5:30 p.m. at Jena Town Hall (2908 E Oak Street) and Friday, December 8 at 10 a.m. at Life Church LaSalle (1265 Justiss Street, Trout).

Think you’ve been tested for ovarian cancer? Think again! The PAP test does not screen for ovarian cancer. Come to one of these meetings to learn more about this deadly cancer – information that could possibly save your life or the life of someone you love.

Healthy Holidays 4-H Class

‘Tis the season for a new culinary class that will bring joy and education! At the “Around the World” Culinary Class, participants will learn about food safety and improve their culinary skills through active demonstrations led by LSU Extension Agents, Madison Willis and Jennifer Duhon. In addition, there will be nutrition education components regarding the recipe makeups.

This culinary class will focus on healthy holiday recipes from around the world. There will be a total of 3 recipes: a snack, a main course, and a dessert. Students will have the opportunity to bring these holiday recipes to life through group teamwork efforts.

This workshop will be held on Monday, December 18 from 9:00 a.m.-Noon. This workshop is offered to 4-H Members-ages 9-12.

A $25 registration fee will cover the cost of educational materials, and food for the 3 recipes that will be prepared in the class; and participants will take home a new spiral bound copy of the recipe book used in the class.

Class is limited to 20 participants. The deadline for registration and payment is December 11th. Please make checks payable to: LaSalle 4-H. For more information, contact the LaSalle Parish 4-H Office at 318-9922205.

Retired Teachers Meeting

A retired teachers meeting will be held on Thursday, November 30 at 9:30 a.m. at the LaSalle Parish Library. Sue R. Sandifer, LRTA President District 7, will be the guest speaker. All retired teachers are encouraged to attend.

Christmas Parade Registration

Forms to participate in the Jena Christmas Parade are available at LaSalle Printing and Office Supplies located at 1110 Pine Street in Jena or email Mickey Cockerham at micklpso@yahoo.com to obtain a form. Contact Cockerham at (318) 992-6374 for more info.

The deadline to register to participate is Monday, Dec. 4. Enter a float, car, truck, golf cart, etc.!

Woodmen Christmas Party

The WoodmenLife annual Christmas Party will be Thursday, December 7 at 6 p.m. at the #306 Woodmen Lodge. Woodmen members are encouraged to attend.

Family Christmas Event

The Women of Purpose Ministry will host “A Family Christmas” event on Saturday, December 9 at the Ward 10 Ballpark.

There will be fun for the entire family – party jumpers, arts & crafts stations, food trucks, nativity scene, walk through winter wonderland, stroll down Candy Cane Lane, outdoor movie, s’mores and hot chocolate stations and a fireworks show.

WoodmenLife Christmas Supper

Woodmen Chapter 1145 will hold their annual Christmas supper on Monday, December 11, 2023 at 6:30 p.m. The meal will be provided by the lodge.

If you and your family want to attend, please call (318) 992-5956 to RSVP. You must RSVP by Wednesday, December 6.

There will be no take-outs. Members will provide desserts, the lodge will provide the drinks. All members are encouraged to attend.

Senior Adult Christmas Party

Rosefield Baptist Church is hosting a Senior Adult Christmas Party on Saturday, December 9, 2023 at 10:30 a.m.

Please join us as we celebrate the birth of our Savior! There willl be a devotion, singing, food, fellowship and gifts for everyone. We are very excited to host this for all local seniors.

Rosefield Baptist Church is located at 352 Hwy 124 Olla, LA.

Concordia Board Meeting

Concordia’s next regular board meeting is scheduled for Thursday, December 14 at 5 p.m.

Op Grad’s Christmas in the Park

An animated light show will be Friday, Dec. 15 – Sunday, Dec. 17, 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the Jena Town Park. The event is sponsored by JHS Op Grad. There will be food and photo ops. Admission is $5

Wild Horse Ministries

While observing these lessons, you can watch during the first steps of training a horse that has never been saddled while he relates the horse training with God based on trust, faith, obedience and love.
