4-H Water Rocketeers

Eleven 4-H’ers from across the parish flexed their engineering abilities at the 2023 4-H Water Rocket Workshop held recently at the Jena Community Center.

Each participant built a water rocket from three, two-liter coke bottles while working with a partner. Height and speed were recorded for each launch using an electronic altitude-measuring chip.

After the first round of flights, 4-H’ers made repairs, changes, and given free range of imagination to alter their rockets for the second, third, or a fourth launch. Top height reached this year was 188ft and speeds up to 93mph based on instrumentation used.

Participating in this year’s build included Valcom Patten, Avery Cockerham, Aaron Zeagler, Jack Jones, Maverick Mc-Dowell, Miller Terrell, Zayne Reeves, Camille Reichardt, Jacob Harris, Morgan Ewing and Emilee Elliott.

The LaSalle 4-H Jr. Leaders assisted with setting up the workshop, taught portions of the build, helped 4-H’ers with difficult parts of the build and all aspects that made the workshop a success.
