Duty Ferry New Operating Hours

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development advises the public that the Duty/ Enterprise Ferry in Catahoula Parish will undergo an adjustment to the operating hours which went into effect on Monday, December 4, 2023.

The ferry will operate from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. each day until further notice.

This change comes as a result of safety concerns related to low light conditions at the ferry, as well as the current Ouachita River stage. Water levels, whether too high or too low, can impact the ferry captain’s ability to safety navigate the route, and must always be taken into consideration.

DOTD considers the safety of the ferry riders, as well as the boat captains, to be a top priority, and these operating hours will be monitored and adjusted again as necessary.

Weunderstandthischangemaybeinconvenient for some who use the ferry on a regular basis, but we must ensure safe operations of the ferry at all times. The detour for motorists is LA 124 to LA 126 East to US 165 North to LA 4 East to LA 559.
