Obie Jones

Obie Edward Jones, 65, peacefully went to be with the Lord on Saturday, December 16, 2023.

He was born September 4, 1958 in Columbia, LA. Soon after, his family moved to Urania, Louisiana.

Obie lived in many places in his lifetime but always spoke fondly about his childhood and growing up in his beloved hometown of Urania and the people he knew there. He was truly a unique and special individual. He had a trail of close friends from Louisiana and Texas. He possessed a profound ability to forge strong friendships with everyone he met. Those who knew him didn’t just like Obie, they loved him.

Services will be held at 12 p.m., Wednesday, December 20, 2023, at Riser Funeral Home in Olla, LA, with Bro. Bobby Wilson officiating.

Interment will follow in the Good Hope Cemetery, Kelly, LA, under the direction of Riser Funeral Home.

He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Roland Stanford Jones and Mary Best Jones.

Those left to cherish his memory include his brother, Dennis Jones (Debbie Nedbalek Jones); nieces, Jennifer Crowley (Mark) and Allison Merchant (Sameer); Debbie’s sisters, Wanda Drazer (Jerry) and Joyce Freeman; a host of great nephews and nieces; and countless close friends.

Pallbearers will be Mike Corley, Gary Wilson, James Douglas, Glen Henderson, Mark Crowley and Sameer Merchant.
