Sam Mason

Sam Morris Mason, 85, of Harrisonburg, LA, passed away Friday, December 22, 2023, in Jena, LA.

He was born March 5, 1938 in Enterprise, LA. He was a very active member in Catahoula Parish including NALC, President of Catahoula Riding Club, and Mounted Patrol. Sam was an all-around cowboy and loved what he did.

Services were held at 10 a.m., Thursday, December 28, 2023, at Harrisonburg First Baptist Church, with Bro. Nathan Roark officiating.

Interment followed in the Harrisonburg Cemetery, under the direction of Young’s Funeral Home, Jonesville.

He was reunited with his parents, Bert Mason and Jettiev Hutto Mason; son, Clarence Dewayne “Boo” Mason; brothers, Charles Mason and Cutter Mason; and sister, Inez Sanson.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of more than 60 years, Cheristean “Teany” Holloway Mason of Harrisonburg; sister, Irene Sanson of Wildsville, LA; granddaughter “his baby”, Bree Netherland (Tyler) of Jena, LA; and grandson, Derick Mason of Harrisonburg.

Pallbearers were Tyler Netherland, Jerome Patten, Jamie Vidrine, Shane Townsend, Tim Neal and Sean Poole.

Honorary pallbearer was Jessie Clark.
