Jerry Young

Jerry Wayne Young, 69, of Columbia, passed from this life on Thursday, January 11, 2024, at the Haven Nursing Center in Columbia following an extended illness.

He was born November 4, 1954 in Urania, LA to the union of his parents, Clarence Robert Young and Mary Jenkins Young.

Jerry Wayne was a retired Electrician/ Journeyman with Weyerhaeuser Corporation. He was a member of the Urania Pentecostal Church where he served faithfully and spent his spare time keeping up the grounds of the church. His family and his church family was his life. Jerry was strong as an Oak Tree and he stood for everything he believed in.

Services were held at 1 p.m., Saturday, January 13, 2024, at the Olla Chapel at Riser & Son Funeral Home, with Bro. Clay Hutto officiating.

Interment followed in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Jena, LA.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Dena Young of Winnfield; his son, Terry Young (Jennifer) of Jonesboro; two sisters, Rhonda Ewing and Pam Young both of Tullos; and his grandson Michael Young.

Pallbearers were Logan Hinton, Tyrell Hinton, Mario Garcia, Aaron Rodriguez, Alonzo Rodriguez and Curtis McNaughton.
