Country as Cornbread
I have come to a startling realization since returning to work and having to audio record conversations for informational purposes: my accent is as country as cornbread. As I later plunder through the voice recordings and hear myself speak, I am shocked and amazed by my distinguished sound. Before you get too excited, I have also concluded that my fellow citizens born and reared in this area of the Deep South share my condition. It is, however, nothing to be ashamed of, instead it is a badge of honor that we should and must wear as proudly as a peacock in its most beautiful and definitive finery.
