Louisiana is Shrinking
Before John Bel Edwards left the governor’s office, he left us a little present. He pardoned fifty-six convicted criminals, forty of whom were murderers. Why did he do this? I cannot say and I imagine most of these people will reenter the Louisiana population. No wonder we have a crime problem. While the criminals are returning, thousands of working-class people are leaving in droves. Louisiana has lost population for the third straight year. The population has decreased 24,975, 39,024 and 14,274 last year. Texas is the most popular destination for those who leave.
