The mere thought of the responsibilities included in one day in the life of a LaSalle Parish school custodian, janitor or maid would fatigue many. The work is continual and encompasses every school building across their assigned campuses including but not limited to classrooms, restrooms, workrooms, gyms, storage buildings and sports areas across the school grounds - that means every square foot of each playground and sporting area. The average custodian is expected to clean and care for approximately 11,000 plus square feet in an average day. Add the people population of any school and the ratio of custodians on a campus to other school personnel is staggering. It’s a job description that takes a special man or woman to fill.
