A Town Without a Paper
A few weeks ago, I received a call from a subscriber in south Louisiana – as in way south – near the Gulf, desperately seeking our help to keep her small-town newspaper from closing. Mrs. Cassie McCain has been a subscriber of The Jena Times for many years. While at LSU in Baton Rouge decades ago, she was roommates with Naylyn Durham from Jena and fell in love with the local Jena paper. She subsequently subscribed and has received the paper in her hometown of Gueydan, the Duck Capital of America, ever since.
