It was a very busy Saturday in LaSalle Parish for the first weekend of April with several big events taking place.
Along with the usual spring activities of baseball and softball action, the Caroline Bradford Memorial Scholarship fundraising event was held at the Jena Community Center where Casie Bradford reports it was a very successful event.
The official total amount of money raised was not known as of Monday morning, however, it is believed that over $25,000.00 was raised which will provide scholarships for area high school seniors. Organizers thanks everyone who helped with the fundraising event and for the many people who attended and supported it.
Just a few miles away on LA 8, at the Wild Horse Ministries pavilion, Paul Daily held a special Men & Boys Tune Up where guest speakers and music was provided for the eight-hour event, along with food, games and door prizes and a Wild Horse Ministries Demonstration.
The Wild Horse Ministries team conducted the event, which was free to all, as a way to promote the spiritual renewal and growth of men in the parish.
Daily thanked everyone who had a part in the event and for the many men and youth who attended, despite there being so many other activities held that day that competed for their attention.
The beautiful weather Saturday was also welcomed for many yard sales that took place, on residents’ property and at the Whitehall Trade Days. Many people were out and about Saturday taking part in various sales, along with shopping at other used and retail outlets in the parish.
