Jimmie Evans Sr.

Jimmie Harrell Evans Sr., 84, of Leesville, passed away on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at his home with his family.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 19, 2024, at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, Florien, LA, with Bro. Matt Warren and Kendall Price officiating.

Interment will follow in the Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, under the direction of Jeane Funeral Service, Leesville, LA.

Pallbearers were Jimmie Evans III, Gary Evans, Edgar Lewis Evans Jr., Jimmie Evans IV, Mason Evans and Joseph Harris.

Honorary pallbearers were Kai Luke Evans, Carter Evans, Nathaniel Evans and Theodore Evans.

He was born December 24, 1939 in Jena, LA to the union of his parents, Lonnie R. and Gladys M. Windham Evans.

Bro. Jimmie joined the Air Force in December of 1956 and served for 20 years and one day, he was always quick to say. During his military service, he completed three one-year remote site tours and one combat tour in Vietnam.

Two years before Bro. Jimmie retired from the service, he accepted the Lord into his life and shortly after he was called by the Lord to preach, which he did faithfully for 50 years, serving as a pastor in six churches in the state of Louisiana AMEN!

He graduated from Houston Baptist University with a Bachelor’s in Biblical Theology.

Bro. Jimmie married Sharon Grace Ford on June 6, 1958. They celebrated their 56th year and one month of marriage before her passing on July 21 of 2014.

Bro. Jimmie remarried to Bobbie J. Penton on May 30, 2015, until his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his former life partner, Sharon Grace Ford Evans; brothers, Donnald Evans and Leo Evans; and his son Leonard Evans.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Bobbie; his siblings, Lavelle Evans, Lonnie Evans Jr. (Rhonda) and Shirley Ainsworth (Lavon); his children, Jimmie Evans Jr. (Rebecca), Felisha Alcala and Edgar Evans (Alycia); his grandchildren, “Tri”, Gary, Lewis, Miah, Mikey, Diana, Rebecca Grace, Brittanie and Blair Shae; and twenty great grandchildren.
