LaSalle Youth Cook It Up

LaSalle 4-H members showcased their culinary skills at the Central District 4-H Cookery Contest April 4, 2024, in Alexandria. The District Cookery Contest is the final step in the 4-H cooking competition between 10 parishes.

Cookery competitions through 4-H provide a means for youth to apply food preparation and safety skills as well as time spent with a caring adult in the kitchen.

While the judges made their decisions, 4-H’ers participated in several hands-on educational activities.

Results from the 4-H District Cookery include: Pecan Other – 1st Place, Leslie Norris, FES Pecan Other – 2nd Place, Madison Barker, FES Pecan Dessert – Blue Award, Carlee Vercher, FES Pecan Dessert – Red Award, Camille Reichardt, OES Sweet Potato Dessert – Blue Award, Madison Barker, FES Sweet Potato Dessert – Blue Award, Camille Reichardt, OES Sweet Potato Other – Blue Award, Shelby Norris, FES Sweet Potato Other – Red Award, Leslie Norris, FES Beef Any Dish – Red Award, Presley Lindsey, GPMS Beef Any Dish – Red Award, Shelby Norris, FES Egg Other – Blue Ribbon, Cooper Masters, OES Egg Other – Red Ribbon, Ceanna Benandi, FES Egg Dessert – 3rd Place, Presley Lindsey, GPMS Rice Cookery Any Dish – Red Award, Ceanna Benandi, FES For more information on 4H and other youth development program activities, or if you are interested in serving as a volunteer contact your local Cooperative Extension Service at (318) 992-2205.
