Donnie Joiner

Donnie Faye Joiner, 83, of Jena, passed from this life on Saturday, April 20, 2024, in Jena.

Services were held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, Jena, LA, with Rev. Craig James officiating.

Interment followed in the Nebo Cemetery, under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home.

Pallbearers were Austin Joiner, Trenton Joiner, Glen “Slick” Joiner, Jimmy Joiner, Dennis Thomas and Steve Thomas.

She was born May 9, 1940 in Nebo, LA. Donnie was a member of the Lions Club and her local Pokeno group, where she made many friends and wonderful memories. Known for her baking skills and love for fishing, and she brought joy to all who knew her. Her dedication extended beyond hobbies as she taught Sunday school for several years at East Jena Baptist Church, sharing her faith and love for the Lord with her community.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Doyle Eugene Joiner; son, Arthur Ray Joiner; parents, Vernie Gibson and Annie Allen Gibson; sister, Vernie Mae Thomas; and two granddaughters, Amanda Joiner and Laura Joiner.

Those left to cherish her memory include her son, Doyle Joiner (Sondra); daughter-in-law, Sally Joiner; grandchildren, Amber Joiner, Austin Joiner, Trenton Joiner and Halle Joiner; and many other family and friends.
