Lonnie Allen

Lonnie Lamar Allen, 71, of the Nebo Community of Jena, LA, passed from this life on Sunday, May 5, 2024, early that morning at his home.

Services were held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at Nebo Baptist Church, with Bros. Carl Gulde and Daniel Breithaupt officiating.

Interment followed in the Nebo Cemetery, under the direction of Hixson Brothers Funeral Home, Jena, LA.

Pallbearers were Robin Allen, Chris Allen, Brandon Joy, Robbie Joy, Jesse Allen and Greg Craig.

He was born May 12, 1952 in Jena, LA. Lonnie was a man who dedicated his life to his family and found joy in the simple pleasures of life. With a successful career as a rig manager in the oilfield, Lonnie retired early to do the things he loved most. He loved fishing, hunting, gardening and visiting with his family and friends. He loved to sing and knew every word to every song he ever heard. As we reflect on Lonnie’s life, we remember a man who loved deeply and lived life to the fullest. His spirit touched the lives of so many, leaving a mark on all who knew him. He never hesitated to strike up a conversation with anyone and he never met a stranger. Lonnie’s legacy of love and laughter will continue to be cherished by his family and friends. He loved hard, lived hard and loved every bit of his life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Allen and Doris Gray Allen; and brother, Wallace “Buddy Pete” Allen.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife, Dorothy “Dottie” Joy Allen; son, Jason Allen of Nebo; daughter, Jessica Allen Breithaupt (Daniel) of Jena; grandchildren, Cydni Walker, Emily Allen, Jesse Allen, Kynslee Slay and Piper Breithaupt; great granddaughter, Adrian Volentine; sisters, Janice Gurganus (Leonard) of Nebo and Margie Morphis (Jimmy) of Jena; and many other family and friends.
