Honoring the Veteran’s Honor Guard
Lifestyle
By Deborah Mayo Contributing Writer on June 12, 2024
Honoring the Veteran’s Honor Guard

“A military funeral is the final show of respect for our veterans and their families, and I take that solemn duty very seriously.” (David “Cowboy” Robertson: Veteran of the Vietnam, Desert Storm and Iraq Wars) Cowboy Robertson is not as spry in body as he once was. COPD causes him to breath heavily. Old back injuries from his many years of military service in three wars prevent him from standing as straight and tall as he once did. But when it comes to the Veteran’s Honor Guard of Jena, he, like his fellow volunteers, is full of passion and commitment. You can hear it in his voice, and you can see it in his face. He and the other members of this respectful institution take their duties very seriously and are sending out a call for other veterans to join their forces.
