During the decades of the 60s, 70s and 80s, LaSalle Parish’s economy was driven mainly by two industries: oil and timber. Timber was the first industry to literally build LaSalle Parish and when the oil boom occurred in the 1930’s, it became just as much a staple industry as timber, if not more.
