I saw Jeff Foxworthy on TV a while back and he said if you mow your grass and find a car, you might be a redneck. He also had other examples. It just got me to thinking, am I a redneck? So, I got my wife to check and she told me the back of my neck was pretty darn red and she also said that I needed a haircut. But I wanted to be sure, so I stood back and took a look at my life. I live in a rural area and like country music, check and check. I have two pickup trucks and garden where we grow things to eat. I like to hunt and fish, have a boat and a shotgun. I also carry a pocketknife every day. My dad had dogs and loved to hunt quail. My sister had a horse and was a barrel racer. I reflected on my younger days when I played by the bayou and walked around outside barefooted. After all my research I discovered that I’ve been a country boy my entire life and that’s OK. I see many others that have spent lots of time outdoors and I feel at home in a rural setting like LaSalle Parish.
