Tigers Get Big Win Last Week

The LaSalle Tigers lost two games last week but got a huge win to help their confidence as they continue to work hard and improve each week.

On Tuesday night, January 14, the Tigers opened District 3-1A action as they hosted the Lakeview Gators at the LHS gymnasium.

The Tigers found it tough to score all night against the fierce Gator defense. The Tigers were only able to muster 19 points in this game which had a final score of 64-19.

LaSalle was led in scoring by Tuff Street with 9 points, Caiden Finley with 4, Harley Stroud with 4 and Jace Corley with 2. The Tigers fought hard but the sheer numbers of players that Lakeview was able to rotate during the game finally caught up with the Tigers.

On Thursday night, January 16, the Tigers traveled to Downsville to take on Downsville Charter. The team picked up a huge win over Downsville Charter 45-43 on the road. LaSalle was able to get an early lead and maintain composure to come away with the victory.

LaSalle was led on offense by Tuff Street with 17 points. The Tigers were 6 for 10 from the free throw line to seal the game in the fourth quarter. Other scorers for the Tigers were Caiden Finley 8, Harley Stroud 3, Lane Burnham 5, Madison Jeter 9, Tahje Varner 1 and Jace Corley 2.

It was an exciting game and one that the Tigers needed to not only help with confidence but to reward their hard work. The Tigers have shown no back-down from any team they have faced this season and they continue to work hard to make their school and community proud.

On Friday night, January 17, LaSalle traveled to Northwood- Lena for their second district game. It was another hard battle for the Tigers as they faced a fast and experienced Gator team. The final score was 58-12 with the Tigers losing their second district game. (Individual game stats were not available due to an early press deadline related to the incoming winter weather.)

This week, La-Salle was scheduled to play St. Mary’s at home for another district matchup Tuesday, January 21, but as of early Monday morning, it was not certain the game would be played due to incoming winter weather.

On Friday, January 24, the Tigers will face the Logansport Tigers in another District 3-1A contest in Olla.

Everyone is asked to pack the gym to cheer the Tigers on.

Hope to see you at the games.
