Muddy Bayou Road Closed at North Fork on Dewey Wills WMA
January 25, 2025 – Trey Iles Baton Rouge

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries (LDWF) has closed Muddy Bayou Road at North Fork on Dewey W. Wills Wildlife Management Area (WMA) due to road damage.

The road past that point on the WMA will remain opened. Once the road damage is repaired, this section of road will be reopened to vehicular traffic.

Dewey W. Wills WMA is located in the southern portion of LaSalle and Catahoula parishes in central Louisiana approximately 20 miles northeast of Alexandria.

Available game species include deer, squirrel, rabbit, raccoon, turkey, waterfowl, and woodcock. There is a general turkey lottery hunt as well as a youth deer season and lottery hunt. There is also a small game emphasis area. There is excellent recreational  fishing in this area. Common recreational species include largemouth bass, white bass, crappie, catfish, bluegill and other species of sunfish.

All visitors to Dewey W. Wills WMA and all LDWF WMAs must have either a WMA Access Permit, Senior Hunting/Fishing License, Louisiana Sportsman’s Paradise License, or Lifetime Hunting/Fishing License. Go to https://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/page/wmarefugeconservation-area-licenses-and-permits for more information.

For more information on the WMA, go to https://www.wlf.louisiana.gov/page/dewey-w-wills or contact the LDWF Pineville Office at 318-487-5885.
