Olla Community Easter Celebration

Several churches in the northwest LaSalle area joined together Sunday night, April 6, for a special night of music and scripture reading in the Olla Community Easter Celebration Concert.

The event was held in the LaSalle High School auditorium where, for nearly two hours, songs were sung celebrating the resurrection of Jesus as the countdown to Easter Sunday is underway.

Individuals and groups from Olla Methodist Church, Olla First Baptist Church, Tullos First Baptist Church and others sang as various individuals read the resurrection story from the Bible in between the songs.

Singers included: Pastor Scott Smith, Jessie Puckett, Nikki Blackwell, Briana Borland, Reagan Franklin, Beau McClure, Patty Sokol, Tim and Lisa Wesson, Mark and Sandy Bradshaw, Tanner Beavers, Allie Smith, John Bruce, Alisha Duke, Sissy Duke and Danika Covington.

Several congregation songs were also featured that allowed the crowd to join in celebrating the Easter season.

“In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.

His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow: And for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.

And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Jesus, which was crucified.

He is not here: for he is risen, as he said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay.” Matthew 28:1-6
