Tigers Pick Up Back-to-Back Wins

The LaSalle Tigers picked up two wins this past week over Downsville on the road and Stanley at home. The Tigers were looking to get back into the win column after a couple of tight losses to Montgomery recently.

On Monday, April 7, the LaSalle Tigers topped the Downsville Demons 5-1. LaSalle got on the board in the top of the first inning after Canaan Stowe walked and Kale Murphrey hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring a run. LaSalle extended their early lead with two runs in the top of the third, thanks to RBI singles by Kale Murphrey and Wyatt King.

Brady Tatum stepped on the bump first for the LaSalle Tigers. The starter allowed four hits and one run over five innings, striking out 9 and walking 1. Kale Murphrey pitched two innings of shutout ball for LaSalle in relief. The hurler gave up zero hits, striking out two and walking none.

Kale Murphrey drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Tigers with two RBI’s and going 1 for 1 on the day. Murphrey, Wyatt King, Tuff Street, Brady Tatum, and Jessey Stowe each collected a hit for the Tigers. LaSalle had a strong eye at the plate, amassing eight walks for the game. Lane Burnham, Canaan Stowe and Mason Lee led the team with two walks each. LaSalle also stole four bases and turned one double play in this game. The Tigers did not commit a single error in this game. Jessey Stowe had the most chances with 10.

On Thursday, April 10, the LaSalle Tigers scored seven runs in the sixth inning, which helped them defeat the Stanley Panthers 12-2. Cutler Ganey doubled, scoring one run, Brady Tatum singled, scoring two runs, Kale Murphrey singled, scoring one run, Lane Burnham singled, scoring one run and Wyatt King singled, scoring two runs.

LaSalle got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Kale Murphrey singled, and Lane Burnham hit a sacrifice fly, each scoring a run. Stanley Panthers tied the game in the top of the third inning on a dropped third strike, and a ground out by Jaxson Murphrey. In the bottom of the fifth inning, LaSalle broke up the tie when Canaan Stowe homered, scoring two runs. Then a double by Kale Murphrey followed to extend the lead 5-2.

Kale Murphrey stepped on the bump first for LaSalle. The righty allowed two hits and two runs (zero earned) over four innings, striking out 8 and walking 7. Brady Tatum tossed two innings of scoreless baseball for LaSalle in relief. Tatum surrendered one hit, striking out 3 and walking 1.

LaSalle tallied 12 hits in this game. Kale Murphrey drove the middle of the lineup, leading La-Salle with 3 RBIs. Murphrey goes 3 for 4 on the night. Brady Tatum followed up going 2 for 3 in the contest.

LaSalle will finish up the regular season this coming week and look for the baseball playoff pairings to come out on Tuesday, April 22. Once they come out, the Tigers will get prepared to make a deep run in the playoffs. Right now, they are projected to be the #18 seed in Division IV Non-Select, which will have them traveling for their first-round game.

Come out and cheer on these guys that are working so hard to make this community and school so proud. Hope to see you at the games.
