Approximately 30 individuals demonstrated across the street from the Central Louisiana ICE Processing Center in Jena Sunday afternoon, June 8, for around two hours. Organized by the Ben Gordon Freedom Caravan of New Orleans, the group said they “stood in solidarity with all detainees illegally held at the facility and demanded their immediate release.” At least two LaSalle Parish residents joined the demonstrators, including Trish Taylor, at far left with umbrella, who held a sign that read: “Soros didn’t have to pay me.” The group demanded the release of Mahmoud Khalil, the end of “Israel’s genocide in Gaza,” and denounced President Donald Trump’s “regime’s reliance on extra-legal roundups.”
