In the late summer of 2020, in the midst of all the BLM protests and the frustrations of Covid 19 pandemic, The Jena Times publisher/editor Sammy J. Franklin extended an invitation to Catahoula Parish resident and writer Alma Mc Clure Womack to begin publishing articles in this newspaper after a controversial piece had her Black River Lagniappe article discontinued in the Catahoula News Booster newspaper.
