The Centennial Cultural Center in downtown Olla proudly hosted its very first Graphic Arts Class during the month of May, with sessions held every Monday. The class was both sponsored and instructed by Alejandra Lachance, owner of Ms. Ale – Embroidery and Print on Demand.
The participants, local students between the ages of 9 and 17, were introduced to the foundational principles of graphic design. They explored basic computer graphics and studied a glossary of technical terms related to the world of graphic arts. One of the highlights of the class was a lesson in composition, where students learned how to effectively use space, size, colors, pictures, shapes and text to create visually appealing designs.
As the weeks progressed, students applied their new skills by creating publicity samples, posters, and artistic drawings.
They also explored the exciting world of sublimation— a process that allowed them to produce personalized goods. By the end of the course, students proudly walked away with custom-designed backpacks and water bottles, showcasing their creativity and the hands-on experience they gained through the sublimation technique.
The Graphic Arts Class was a fun, educational and inspiring experience for all involved. The Centennial Cultural Center looks forward to offering more creative opportunities like this in the future.
