It was another exciting day at the LaSalle Parish Libraries as children gathered for a one-of-a-kind, art-themed adventure during this year’s Summer Reading Program. The interactive show, led by author M.L. Tarpley, introduced the children to the world of famous artists, art and vibrant creativity.
But things took a surprising turn when the mischievous Color Thief made a sneaky appearance stealing all the color from the room, even from Tarpley’s hair! With the room suddenly gray and dull, the children were challenged to help bring all the color back!
Through creative challenges, games and teamwork, the children helped bring the color back, bit by bit. The final splash of color returned when the children all came together for a special craft activity each creating their own colorful masterpieces, bringing the experience together with laughter, learning and a lot of imagination.
The LaSalle Parish Library continues to bring stories to life this summer, one colorful event at a time!
Children of all ages are invited to attend the final events of this year’s Summer Reading Program on Friday, June 27. At 10 a.m., the Jena library will host Pair-A-Docs, Mrs. Debra Jo and Mr. Tommy, who bring magic and “edutainment” with each show. At 2 p.m., the Olla library will have Ms. Brayden Keene’s Imagination Station, a place for story time magic and adventure.
All Friday programs and special entertainers during the month of June were provided in collaboration with the McKinney Vento’s Federal Grant through the LaSalle Parish School Board.
