The Stars and Stripes of Freedom

July 4th is a celebration of the foundations and freedoms of the United States of America, and nothing symbolizes the country like the red, white and blue stars and strips of the national flag. Old Glory waves proudly despite past world wars, international conflicts and present internal challenges. It has been ironclad since the original version of the 13 colonies was reportedly handsewn by Betsy Ross in 1777 and continues with today’s 50 stars duly representing the current 50 states. Some little-known facts about the flag are worth exploring.
