Shortly after my dad, Sammy Franklin, purchased The Jena Times in 1968, he established this newspaper’s motto of “Dedicated to the PROGRESS and GROWTH of LaSalle Parish.” This motto has remained the centerpiece of this newspaper even in his absence and when opportunities arise that helps our parish progress and grow, we are the first to jump in and support them.
