In recent years, a new breed of YouTuber has emerged, cloaked in the guise of civil liberties champions: the so-called “ First Amendment Auditors.” These self-styled watchdogs claim to be defending free speech and government transparency by filming public officials, especially law enforcement officers, often in provocative or antagonistic ways. While their actions may be technically legal under current interpretations of the First Amendment, their true aim is less noble: they’re chasing viral views, not accountability.
