Jena town employee Tina Gore and rescue Betsy are all smiles in front of the Town of Jena Dog Pound, which was recently awarded by the Best Friends Network as a “No-Kill Shelter”. The plaque was presented to the local pound for their achievement of exceeding a 90% save rate for cats and dogs during the 2024 calendar year. Jena Mayor LaDawn Edwards expressed her appreciation to Gore, saying in a post on Facebook, “I’m so proud of Tina and her leadership with the town’s dog pound”, attributing its success to Gore’s dedication and hard work over several years. With many projects now under her belt, Gore looks forward to making the town’s pound even better - all in hopes to save even more animals in need.
